POLICEMAG.COM 43 LOUISIANA OFFICERS FIRED OVER AOC FACEBOOK POST I'D LIKE TO COMMENT on the news story on PoliceMag.com, "2 Louisiana Offi- cers Fired Over Facebook Post Suggest- ing AOC be 'Shot.'" e officer involved in this incident was a 14-year veteran. I despise that friggin dingbat Alexandria Ocasio-Cor- tez just as much as everyone else that has a working brain. However, he should have used better judgment, es- pecially on FB. Social media is and has been a grave- yard of many police careers. Let this be another wake up call, reminder, and life lesson for all law enforcement to THINK before they hit that Enter key when posting online. LEO (RET) Via PoliceMag.com HOW ABOUT SOME INTELLECTUAL HON- ESTY. If they would've been referring to Trump, they would be facing a secret service and DOJ investigation and pos- sible federal charges. CityCop Via PoliceMag.com TO PROTECT AND SERVE IT'S BEEN 19 YEARS since I retired from the Atlantic City (NJ) Police Depart- ment, following my two brothers who came on before me. In my 26 years I saw 13 officers I worked with commit suicide, another half dozen go to jail, and many become either drug addicts or alcohol- ics. As an officer, I played many roles ere are countless things I saw and cannot even talk about. I resolved many problems for many people. Believe it or not, I did this while sometimes not even being able to handle my own. Every day was different. My desk was a police car. I also had a walking beat in a neighborhood where most did not like the police. I left that all behind, along with two sons who now do the same, but I would not change a thing. Every adver- sity and experience made me who I am and were all blessings. I was a Police- man. Every police officer knows these things because that is what we do. It's a thankless job that at some point you leave, but it never leaves you. So from me to all of you past, present, and future officers, thank you for your service and selfless sacrifices. We know what it is to work weekends, holidays, children's birthdays, while those we protect enjoy them all, but we would all do it again. Patrick K. Hurley Detective Sergeant of Police (Ret.)
