POLICEMAG.COM 53 ' | 410-744-2400 | events@ipmba.org | www.ipmba.org EQUILIBRIUM Awesome article! After a 33-year law enforcement career I became a chap- lain so that I could continue to serve fellow first responders precisely for the reasons that Dave Smith outlines in his December article "Equilibrium." Devin Chase Via PoliceMag.com What an excellent article this is! I hope every law enforcement officer reads this. Hopefully sergeants can share this at roll call. Sue Oliviera, Ph.D. Via PoliceMag.com I got this lesson in person from Buck. It made an impact on me so I tried to share it with my son (an officer in Houston). During Buck's lecture, he talked about having hobbies, etc., but also made a comment about not being in love with your agency because to your agency, you are replaceable. One day your agency will let you down. Wise words from a great teacher. Gary Spears Via PoliceMag.com THE THINGS YOU CARRY Reading Doug Wyllie's De- cember article "e ings You Car- ry" brought back some memories for me. When I worked for the county I had such a diverse amount of equipment in my trunk that my wife bought a trunk storage locker to keep items clean and dry. As many others did, I carried spare lightbulbs for flashlights, batteries in all different sizes, ammo, hand towels, plus blankets. I, too, kept stuffed animals in my car for domestics where children were in- volved. And I had a first-aid kit with ex- tra Tylenol and aspirin and peppermint candy for dry throats. Since I also did investigations I ar- rived with multiple sizes of evidence bags, boxes, and cans. Glad I had a full size Crown Vic. Daryl Allen Via PoliceMag.com BUILDING A BETTER FORCE GREAT AND MOVING STORIES are what we have come to know of your highly esteemed publica- tion. We translate these stories into Somali to create a bond among our nascent Somali Police Force. We have a long way to go but following in your footsteps and replicating your achieve- ment, we are confident we can develop a law enforcement force that is effective and efficient in Somalia.
