In case the main dispatch center is interrupted, these workstations allow dispatchers to provide backup by performing the same functions from the truck. They feature two radios and dual ultra-wide monitors hooked to ultra-small form factor computers. The primary purpose is local dispatch of incidents, allowing responding officers to have control and awareness of what is taking place and what assets are available. It also prevents strain on central dispatch during a critical incident so the rest of the public safety system is not overloaded. Carlsbad's new LDV vehicle features a JPS ACU 5000 IP interoperability gateway that allows different radios, VOIP devices, satellite phones, and other devices to talk to each other. Components housed in this multi-tier spacerack ensure that everyone using the mobile command center can send and receive information using dif- ferent types of communication without interruption. This workstation is equipped with a Motorola APX 6500 800MHz and a Kenwood TK-5710 VHF, Cisco VOIP phone, PC and ultra-wide monitor, and an Extron remote control panel to control AV to the monitors. ➔ ➔ ➔ ➔
